Walk by the Perito Moreno
In El Calafate, Santa Cruz, you can hire services hiking on the Perito Moreno Glacier different lengths: A 3 hour tour, complete with a visit to the Visitors Center Los Glaciares National delParque, and a longer expedition 5 hours in which, besides walking on the ice, you advance on the side to delve a little deeper into the icy giant moraine. Journey to the Center of the Glacier
The big Ice operates from mid-September until the end of April.
This unforgettable experience begins in the Port «Under the shadows» early in the morning. There you take a boat to cross the Brazo Rico, and 20 minutes after landing on the west coast.

IMPORTANT
• Restrictions: This tour because of the physical demands and difficult terrain is only suitable for people between 18 and 50 years of age and who have a good physical condition, considering that they walk around seven hours in total, between ice and forest.

Minitrekking
The minitrekking is from early August until the end of May.
The tour starts in the «Bajo de las Sombras» port about 6 km. Mirador before the glacier, where you embark to cross Lake Rico, reaching the opposite shore about 20 minutes by boat off the south wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
After landing you enter the refuge where the guides organize groups each consist of up to 20 people. Then begins a walk along the lake about 20 minutes to the glacier. At the edge of the ice the guides put the crampons to participants, who receive instructions on how they should move on the ice. The route on the glacier takes about two hours, and during the course of it you can enjoy a variety of ice formations such as cracks, seracs, drains, small lagoons, etc.
The hike is moderate. The ice surface over which you walk is irregular, but firm and safe. Explanations about the flora, fauna, and general glaciology of the region as well as the particular phenomenon that happens in the Perito Moreno Glacier and eventually produces its rupture receive.
